Event description

Educational inequities shape how children belong, connect, and are treated, which ultimately impacts their lives and aspirations.

These inequities are complex, longstanding and often overlap at an individual level, sharpening personal impacts in ways that are not often captured in data sets.

He Whakaaraara is a living, iterative report that was instigated by Dr Hana O’Regan, and frames systemic educational inequities in Aotearoa New Zealand through the voices and experiences of tamariki and their whānau, and current research and data from Māori, Pacific, Rainbow, Migrant / former refugee, and disability communities.

In this live webinar Dr Hana O’Regan and Dr Tim Gander will share the vision for He Whakaaraara as a place where:

  • Communities and advocacy groups can foreground their stories and data with a larger audience

  • Funders can find out what the critical areas for investment are

  • Researchers can source the latest data

  • Educators can gain insights to support their strategic foci and information about successful responses to inequity.

We look forward to having you join us and appreciate your support for this critically important response to systemic inequities in education in Aotearoa New Zealand.
