Event Details:

  • Date: Thursday, 27 November 2025

  • Guest Speaker: Charlie Rothery, General Manager, Dylan Alcott Foundation

  • Biography;

    Charlie Rothery is a natural entrepreneur with over 12 years’ experience establishing and leading some of Melbourne’s most recognised restaurants. As Founder and Co-Managing Director of Commune Group, he built one of the city’s leading hospitality collectives, expanding to eight venues and employing more than 200 staff.

    Charlie's transition from the private sector into the not-for-profit world was fuelled by a passion for creating opportunities for people who may not otherwise have the chance to thrive. Working closely with a diverse workforce of employees gave him deep insight into the barriers people face in achieving their potential, shaping his commitment to equity, inclusion, and social impact.

    Today, Charlie heads up the Dylan Alcott Foundation as General Manager, providing strategic leadership, financial stewardship, and drives the growth of the organisation’s programs, partnerships, and fundraising capacity. A Fellow of the Social Impact Hub, Charlie combines governance, operational, and fundraising expertise with a deep belief in harnessing innovation as a force for good.

    Charlie holds a Master of Arts and Environmental Studies from Melbourne University. He is a mentor, facilitator, passionate about leadership and inclusion.
