Event description

The hills are alive with the sound of laughter! That’s right, the very best stand-up comedians are headed to the hills to perform at the Armadale Arts Festival as part of the Headliners Comedy Gala. No need to travel all the way into the city for your live comedy fix. They're bringing the laughs directly to you!

The show format is very simple, a hilarious comedy host and four professional comedians - Janelle Koenig, Mickey J, Xavier Michelides and Sean Conway - doing their very best material.

“The audience were consistently laughing and clearly enjoying themselves throughout all of the comedians’ sets as the room never lulled into uncomfortable silence.”

THE COMEDIANS

• Matt Dyktynski
Matt Dyktynski has been a part of the comedy scene for over three decades now, and you may well have heard him doing one of his many sketches or parody songs over eight years on Perth breakfast radio with MIX 94.5 as part of Pete, Matt and Kymba, and Clairsy, Matt and Kymba before that.
Perhaps you didn’t know that before breakfast radio, and before plying his trade as a comedian at major comedy festivals including Edinburgh, Melbourne and Perth Comedy festivals, he was an actor!

• Janelle Koenig
With a spectacular 20+ years of world-class comedy behind her, and at least another 20 ahead, there isn’t an audience she’s performed to that she hasn’t won over to rapturous applause and peer admiration.
Within the comedy industry she’s built a reputation for writing and supporting some of the biggest Australian and International names in the business of laughter including Jimeoin (Aria Award Winner), Wayne Brady (Whose Line Is It Anyway US), Joel Creasey (Eurovision, Nova 93.7, Neighbours), and Em Rusciano (Channel 10).

• Xavier Michelides
Xavier Michelides is renowned for his distinctive style of surreal character comedy, with a career spanning over two decades. Recently, his satirical videos parodying Bunnings have gained a loyal following, amassing millions of views and attracting more than 77,000 Instagram followers and 30,000 on TikTok. Currently, Xavier also lends his talents as a writer for Network Ten’s The Project.

• Mickey J
His eclectic blend of mime and musical comedy shine under the stage lighting and proves him a comedic goliath. If you’re the kind of person to boast seeing homegrown talent before their career skyrockets, we highly suggest getting down to see this man.
