Healing Program
The programs operate on the principle that cultural connection is the foundation of healing – when people are strong in their identity and connected to Country, they have the resilience to overcome challenges and thrive.
Reconnect participants to Country, traditional healing practices, and cultural knowledge
Strengthen cultural identity and pride in Aboriginal heritage
Preserve and pass on traditional practices to younger generations
Program Models and Activities:
The healing programs aim to foster positive relationships between Aboriginal women, girls, and their communities while developing cooperative partnerships with traditional healing practices, cultural knowledge holders, and local support services.
Weaving Our Way to Wellbeing (WOWW) model
This model provides safe cultural connection and healing services for Aboriginal women across 12 NSW communities. It includes monthly workshops focusing on traditional healing practices, storytelling, and life skills development.
Murungidyal Centre model
This model offers a safe and culturally appropriate residential healing space for Aboriginal women experiencing family violence, providing intensive support for at least six weeks.
Soulful Steps Healing Model
This model focuses on Aboriginal girls and young women aged 10-17 and their families, providing culturally grounded early intervention services. It includes group sessions, one-on-one mentoring, family therapy, and cultural camps designed to strengthen cultural identity, emotional intelligence, and family relationships.
