Join us for a crucial conversation on "Health: Access and Equity" hosted by Rotary Elizabeth Quay in collaboration with the United Nations Association of Australia WA. 

This engaging panel discussion, part of Mental Health Week, focuses on advancing healthcare access and equity, and tackling the challenges faced by vulnerable groups across Western Australia.

Panelists:

Andrea Creado, CEO of Ishar Multicultural Women's Health Services:
Andrea Creado is currently the CEO of Ishar Multicultural Women's Health Services with over 20 years' experience of working with varied ethnic communities in a community health setting. Andrea is also a Councillor with the local government for the City of Stirling. Andrea holds a Master's degree in Human Development, Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Psychology and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Additionally, she sits on the Board for the National Association of Translators and Interpreters, Board for the Centre for Women's Safety and Wellbeing and is a member of various community organisations. She is often invited by government to sit as the multicultural voice on various advisory groups related to women's health and family and domestic violence.

For her work, Andrea has been recognised by various organisations, including being the recipient of the Zonta Woman of Achievement Award in 2012, the Soroptimist International Woman of Achievement Award 2023 and is a recipient of the Social Impact Leadership Australia scholarship.

Dr. Andrew Lu AM, President of the Mental Health Tribunal:

Dr Andrew Lu AM is the current President of the Mental Health Tribunal and has over 25 years' of legal, commercial and public sector experience across decision-making, vocational regulation, health and aged care, and higher education.

In his role with the Tribunal, he is responsible for the oversight and efficient conduct of specified functions outlined in the Mental Health Act and leading a team entrusted with safeguarding the rights of mental health consumers in Western Australia.

Committed to good governance in the public and nonprofit sector, he is a board member of SBS Corporation, Arts Law Centre of Australia, Australian Youth Orchestra, and Melbourne International Film Festival, as well  previously being a sessional member on the State Administrative Tribunal and Reproductive Technology Council. Furthermore, he has also served on the Calvary Health Care ACT Human Rights Ethics Committee, and National Gallery of Australian Foundation.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Graduate Diploma in law from UWA, a Master of Laws from the University of New England, and a Doctor of Juridical Science from ANU. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law and a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia. For his work, Andrew was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2021, as well as being named Diversity Leader 2019 by the Asian Australian Lawyers Association, and noted in the inaugural AA122 list of the most influential Asian Australians of 2022.
