Event description

We’re pleased to announce that the HealthTech Activator (HTA) will be hosting a Medical Device Reimbursement interactive tutorial on Tuesday 9 November with US health economics and reimbursement specialist Jay Stracke. This will also include a discussion about the challenges for Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) products.

The US market makes up over a third of the global healthcare market, often making it a key target for NZ healthtech companies. However, the US healthcare market is complex, and successfully getting your medical device into care settings requires an understanding of how reimbursement works in the US and for you to develop a strategy early.

Via panel discussion this interactive tutorial will cover:

  • Reimbursement in the US: overview of actors and definitions;
  • Considerations when performing a reimbursement assessment for a medical device early in development;
  • Developing a strategic reimbursement plan, for use throughout early R&D to launch;
  • Emerging challenges and trends in US reimbursement - including SaMD and telehealth.

Aimed at medical device companies of all stages, this interactive tutorial is presented by Jay Stracke of Billow Health; who has experience gained from many years in senior health economics and reimbursement roles across several global healthtech companies, including Biotronik, Zimmer Biomet and Boston Scientific, and as a Deputy Director at the Centers of Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Event details:

  • Online interactive tutorial via Zoom - Tuesday 9 November, 9:00am - 10:15am.
  • Cost $25 + GST and booking fee per person.
  • The interactive tutorial will close with a 10-15 min Q&A session, with questions submitted to the moderator. Questions will be treated anonymously by the moderator.
