Dr Melissa MailÂ
Head of Commercialisation / Children's Medical Research Institute Â
Dr Melissa Mail is passionate about delivering leading technology innovations to the market and achieving successful commercial outcomes. Throughout her career, Melissa has worked at the interface between industry and academia and brings a broad strategic perspective with a focus on technology performance and aligning intellectual property assets with commercial strategy.
Melissa’s strengths lie in establishing strong relationships with industry, research and government partners. She has a PhD in Genetics, a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Master of Intellectual Property Law. Melissa is also a Fellow of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors
Jess SmithÂ
Investment Manager/Â Brandon Capital
Before joining Brandon, Jess was a Senior Associate patent attorney with FB Rice in Sydney and Melbourne. In her earlier, scientific research career, Jess worked on projects focused on the development of small molecule drugs for treating cancer, viral diseases and blood disorders and held post-doctoral positions in industry (Avexa Limited), academia (Monash University) and at the CSIRO.
Jess is currently a director of Sicario and Vaxxas.
Gordon Malouf
Cicada Innovations
With over two decades of experience in the medical device industry, Gordon has held key roles in Applied Research, Product Development, Technical Due Diligence, Product Marketing, Program Management, and Medical Affairs. His most recent venture was as a co-founder of an in-house medical device startup. In five years, the startup expanded to a team of 50 employees across five countries with hundreds of units sold into the United States, securing reimbursement from both the Federal Government and major private insurers.
Gordon is passionate about innovation and the collaboration between Product Development, Marketing and Evidence Generation. His extensive international experience, having lived and worked in Sydney, Stockholm, Singapore, and Tokyo, has equipped him with a distinctive perspective on teams, culture and communication.
Philip Crealy
Founder, Director @ Equinox Medical | Early Stage Ventures
Over 15 years’ experience leading pharmaceutical companies and medical affairs, Philip has worked across the Pharma industry as medical and scientific affairs manager before embarking on his own start-up journey as a founder in several innovations since 2017. Currently director of Centralyze, focusing on early-stage investments, commercialisation and global partnerships for Australian life science technologies, and director of Equinox Medical, focusing on delivering best-in-market medical supplies.Â
Philip has led over 25 successful major medical product launches. and is also the found of Petri Exchange, an incubator of early stage biotech companies in Australia.
