Healthy Waterways Community Grants Program - Grant Briefing Sessions and Behavioural Insights Workshops
Description
The Healthy Waterways Community Grants Program supports community-led projects that improve leaf litter management and help reduce phosphorus entering Canberra's urban waterways.
The program places particular emphasis on projects that move beyond awareness raising alone and actively support people to adopt and maintain positive behaviours. Applicants are encouraged to consider how their projects will make leaf litter management more visible, convenient, rewarding and socially supported within the community. Please see Healthy Waterways Community Grant Guidelines for more information.
To support prospective applicants, the ACT Government will offer the following free sessions:
Grant Briefing Session
Behavioural Insights Workshop
There will be both an online and in person option available for both. Participants may attend either the information session or workshop, or both, depending on their interests and availability. Registered participants will receive a recording of the online session if they cannot make it.
Attendance is encouraged but not required to apply for funding. Participation in either session does not commit an individual or organisation to submit a grant application.
Grant Briefing Session
(Choose from: in person on Weds 4th November 12:30-1pm; or online Thurs 5th November 5:00pm to 5:30pm)
An overview of the grants program, including:
Objectives and priorities
Eligibility requirements
Assessment criteria
Key dates and timelines
Application and assessment processes
Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions about the grant program and application requirements. Potential applicants (including those who cannot attend the briefing session) are encouraged to email any questions to the Grants Coordinator (healthywaterways@act.gov.au). Questions received at least two days before the online briefing session (see dates below) will be addressed during the briefing session.
Behavioural Insights Workshop
(Choose from: in person on Weds 4th November 1-3pm; or Thurs 5th November 5:30-7:30pm)
A practical workshop delivered by non-government behavioural insights specialists, covering:
Behaviour change and behavioural insights principles
Findings from ACT leaf litter research
Local barriers and opportunities
Practical behaviour change tools and techniques
Applying behavioural insights to project design and community engagement
Participants will gain practical skills, tools and insights to help design effective projects, strengthen community participation and support lasting environmental outcomes. The workshop also provides access to behavioural insights expertise that can be applied across a range of environmental, education and community engagement initiatives.
The training is intended as a valuable capacity-building and professional development opportunity for community organisations, businesses and individuals interested in behaviour change and community engagement, whether or not they ultimately apply for a grant.
Please note: Workshop facilitators cannot provide advice on individual project proposals or grant applications.
