Heaps Decent: Un-Logoed: Rework Your Wardrobe with Rose Ashton

Part of Randwick City Council's Town Hall Takeover.

Heaps Decent will transform Randwick Town Hall into a vibrant creative hub through a free week-long youth program spanning music, digital media and multidisciplinary arts. Evening workshops will invite the wider community to create alongside artists, culminating in a public showcase celebrating the original work and talent developed throughout the week.

About this workshop

Un-Logoed invites participants to move beyond basic fashion and transform everyday clothing and accessories into bold, original wearable art, and the opportunity to give old items a second life.

Led by Australian artist Rose Ashton, participants will rework a T-shirt, denim item, tote or whatever garment or accessory they desire using colour, drawing, pattern, painting and other techniques. Inspiration may come from iconic Australian fashion and design, including Ksubi, Jenny Kee and Ken Done, or from each participant’s own identity, interests and visual style.

Rather than following a single design, participants will be encouraged to experiment and create something completely individual. Finished pieces can be kept, gifted to someone special or donated to a young person.

Rose has exhibited internationally and delivered accessible creative programs for councils, cultural institutions and diverse communities across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia.

No previous art or fashion experience is required. Participants should bring one clean item to transform, with additional donated pieces and materials available.

About Heaps Decent

Heaps Decent’s Town Hall Takeover will be delivered by a multidisciplinary team of practising artists, facilitators and program leaders working across music, songwriting, DJing, performance, poetry, digital design, visual art, streetwear and community engagement.

All workshops will be led by artists actively working in their fields, combining professional creative practice with strong facilitation experience. Their industry knowledge and confidence help participants engage with new ideas, creative processes and pathways.

Access

Randwick Town Hall is located on the ground floor at 90 Avoca Street, Randwick.

The main entrance is via double doors located on Frances Street. From this entrance there are 8 steps with handrails to reach the hall.

There is a wheelchair accessible entry via the carpark on Avoca Street. There is an accessible car park located on Frances Street.
