Join us for a rollicking night of merriment, friendship and libations as we celebrate the launch of Heaps Normal Records and our first capsule release with our friends, and Eora/Sydney’s own space metal juggernauts, Barb. With their weird brand of fantasy metal-punk, the rad speed of Cammy Cautious and The Wrestlers plus the power of Death Penalty supporting, we're all set for a pretty epic party. Let head-pounding riffs, friends new and old, and several cubic metres of the finest non-alcoholic (and some alcoholic) ales elevate your evening as we come together to celebrate the hatching of our proudest egg yet.

Supporting musicians, venues and music industry workers has been a focus for Heaps Normal from day one. As a business made up of people who have spent their lives working in and around music, it’s in our DNA and keeps our hearts beating. We’ve been stoked to support hundreds of artists, venues, charities and legends who have kept the Aussie music scene alive and kicking over the past few years– and now we’ve decided to crank that up to 11 with the formation of our new record label and music platform.

Heaps Normal Records will make the records that might not have been made, continue to put on and support the shows that might not have happened, and give a leg up to our mates building their careers and profiles, all while investing in championing a more inclusive, safer and more fun Australian music industry and experience. We’ll do this by lending our time, our energy, our networks and our resources to the people, the places and the music that are too good to be wasted.

Barb

A recently formed space metal powerhouse known for its theatrical, raucous, and undeniably head-banging performances across the Inner West. Channelling the gas-chugging energy of Danzig and the mechanical showmanship of mid-80s Ozzy Osbourne, Barb delivers an unforgettable spectacle both visually and sonically.

Fronted by Akira Alvarez, a long-term Heaps Normal ambassador, the band strikes the perfect balance between moderation and excess. With members who have spent a lifetime immersed in the hard-hitting rock and punk lifestyle, Barb seamlessly incorporates Heaps Normal into their routine, showing that you can embrace the wildness of the stage while staying grounded.
