Communication and noise in urban green & blue spaces
Event description
SMART GREEN CITIES & MU HEARING SHOWCASE EVENT 2025
Communication and noise in urban green and blue spaces:
- People
and animals inhabiting urban areas are increasingly exposed to sensory
pollution, particularly exposure to loud and unfamiliar sounds.
- How does the urban soundscape influence communication and behaviour in both humans and animals in these environments?
- How can sound be used to support ecosystem restoration or to design urban soundscapes that are both inclusive and restorative?
Join us for lightning talks and a panel discussion on the topic of Sound,
and how it can be used to assess the quality and function of urban
green and blue spaces from a
human and more-than-human perspective.
Access: The presentation will be supported by captions and an infra-red hearing system is available for use. If you require an assistive listening device on the day, please contact Kelly.Miles@mq.edu.au prior to the event or on the day and one will be provided.
