The Indie Realm NEEDS your help

Hey indie authors and book lovers, its Shannon the owner of The Indie Realm, Perth's first independent romance bookstore and I need your help!

You, me, small businesses and the entire world is feeling the economic hardship we're all currently stuck in and we need your help because without you The Indie Realm doesn't exist.

What does it mean to be an independent bookstore? Not only did I build it from the ground up but we only stock independent authors, You won't find these authors in Kmart or Big W. The only downside to independently publishing is you lose that foot in the door for worldwide distribution and as an indie author myself I was sadden by the thought and that's when the dream of having my book in a bookstore became more than just dream and The Indie Realm was born.

My goal has been to help create a space for indie authors and the readers of Perth to have a place to find community and books you might never have come across simply because independent authors aren't offered worldwide distribution through mainstream sellers like Kmart, Big W, QBD and in Australia it's even harder.

Since we opened in December 2024 where we started with 60 authors on the shelves, we are now over 200 authors and growing. With in store signings, launch parties and opportunities for our authors to reach a wider audience and gain experience with signings in smaller settings before tackling big events. A writing space for sprints and to find other authors.

For readers I was envious of other placing having amazing bookstores, and events! So, for readers we created a welcoming bookstore for them to fall in love with amazing Australian, New Zealand and international romance authors. finding likeminded book lovers and a place to escape reality in our bookish events, movie nights, readers nook to buy a coffee and read a book off our shelves.

We also wanted to support other small businesses with our bookish merch, all the merch you find instore are from amazing Australian small businesses.

There is so much The Indie Realm wants to accomplish for indie authors and readers, and our only downfall is that I'm only one person and I didn't come with hundreds of thousands of dollars, just a love of books a passion as an author and a dream to make it work!

I hope your still here because without the amazing community of readers, authors, bookish businesses we do not exist. our biggest overhead as a small business is the rent of having a physical store and with the hardship increasing, we are struggling to keep our doors open. We need your help!

Our aim is to raise enough money to cover rent for the next few months to get us back into the green and through these hard months we find ourselves in.
