Hempcrete House Tour

The Sustainability Practitioners Network proudly invites you to take a tour of a hempcrete home located in Perth, which is currently under construction.
Hempcrete is a sustainable building material that has numerous benefits over other forms of construction. As it is a bio-composite material made of the inner woody core or “shiv” of the hemp plant, mixed with a lime-based binder, hempcrete requires no chemicals, produces no VOCs (volatile organic compounds) and is hypoallergenic. The numerous other many benefits of hempcrete include:
- Excellent Heat & Sound Insulation
- Recyclable
- Carbon Sequestering
- Vapour Permeable
- Fireproof
- Pest & Mould Resistant
In addition to these benefits, the southwest of Western Australia is one of the best places to grow hemp in the world. Supporting the uptake of hempcrete as a building material will also help the growth of our burgeoning hemp industry.
