Henry Handel Richardson's birthday tea at Lake View 2025
Event description
Come and share the 55th birthday tea at the writer's home with HHR fans, residents of Chiltern and members of the Henry Handel Richardson Society.
It is a tribute to the people of Chiltern that they not only saved Lake View from demolition but have maintained this picnic tea tradition for 54 consecutive years!
Dr Brigid Magner, Associate Professor in Literary Studies and co-director of the Non Fiction Lab at RMIT will speak on Relics of Lake View, considering a number of items on display in the house and their significance. Brigid is the author of Locating Australian Literary Memory.
Christine Hay, a researcher from the Chiltern Athenaeum will speak on Patrick O'Hara - editor of the Chiltern Leader 1896-1898. O'Hara lived at Lake View
Picnic Tea
You can either bring your own picnic meal. or if you would like to order a delicious picnic box (supplied by Robyn Heather) choose 4 items from the Savoury Section and 2 items from the Sweet Section below..

Apple crumble
Bottled water, napkins and cutlery will be provided with your pack.
The price is $20.00 per single, $40.00 for a double.
