Event description

A flood fundraiser.

In response to the recent devastating floods of NSW and QLD, Lily of the Herbs and The Perma Pixie are hosting an online workshop on herbal first aid for the nervous system.

Even without natural disasters, pandemics, and the war on viruses, our nervous system is constantly responding to stimulus in our environment. If we are not aware of how to regulate and support our rest and digest functioning, we can be living in a long term state of fight or flight. The long term effects of high cortisol and adrenaline impacts all systems of the body.

In this workshop we will discuss how stress is not just  the responsibility of individuals, but also needs to be managed as a collective, and we will explore how working with plant allies helps us to adapt to a rapidly changing world.

TOPICS COVERED:

  • How herbs directly communicate and help us to regulate our nervous system.
  • The difference between the central nervous system, parasympathetic nervous system, and the sympathetic nervous systems and their role in the body.
  • Which herbs to choose for different nervous system conditions (such as anxiety, high cortisol, depression, panic attacks, insomnia).
  • The role of Avena (wild oats) and its nourishing action on the nervous system.
  • How to harvest herbs safely in your local area to promote resilience, rather than relying on imported and endangered species from overseas.
  • Plant meditation: a practice to ground and support mental health.

When: 23rd March 6pm (1.5 - 2 hours)

Where: Online

Price: $45 (75% of proceeds will go to flood relief and 25% will cover a small portion of the presenter's time and energy)

This workshop will be free for those affected by the floods. Please email lilyoftheherbs@gmail.com if this applies to you.

**Confirmation of the specific relief funds will be announced ASAP.
