Herbs in the Park
Event description
Let's grow Herbs!
Healthy, rewarding and cost saving....Herbs are great plants to grow. Beginner gardener or more experienced.
Mt Atkinson Community Centre (Edmund Rice Community Services), in partnership with Western Health and Stockland, will be offering two sessions in the park to learn how to grow herbs. We have the very knowledgeable Jono from Eat Grow Garden coming out to teach us tips on how to be a successful herb grower and enjoy the health benefits and cost savings, of growing your own herbs.
Remember no experience required.
The sessions will be family friendly....so bring everyone. It's a great time to meet some new niegahbours.
We are suggesting that if you got a pot for your sunflowers (and now the sunflower is finished) please bring it along so you can re use it. That way you will also have more space for more herbs.
On the day there will be
- Terracotta pots (limited numbers)
- Basic plastic pots
- Potting soil
- Herbs (Seeds and cuttings depending on the seeds)
There will be two sessions with different herbs. You can come to both, we'd love to see you at both.
Wednesday 11th of May
Mt Atkinson - Grizzly Bear Park 5pm to 6pm
Wednesday 18th of May
Grandview - Dinosaur Park 5pm to 6pm
We will get our hands dirty and there will be some pots to carry home...not too many or heavy so walking to the park is appropriate.
Weather. If its good weather for herbs (raining) but not so comfortable for us humans we will reschedule the date. We will email and send a post if this is to happen.
Please register for your family or household just once. We will do our best to share the resources fairly. By registering we know who is coming and what will be needed on the day.
If you have any questions please contact Michael on mnaismith@edmundrice,org or call 0466 597 145
If you have any knowledge of growing herbs and are able to help out on one or both days we would appreciate your support. Contact Michael
We hope to see you in the Park
