Heritage Hands Festival & Makers Market - Sandgate 2026
Description
Discover remarkable skills, meet the makers and experience Australia’s living heritage in the heart of Sandgate.
Heritage Hands Festival & Makers Market brings together traditional and specialist artisans, craftspeople, artists and heritage organisations for an afternoon of making, learning, sharing and discovery.
At the heart of the festival is the Heritage Makers Market — a curated gathering of specialist artisans and makers, with opportunities to meet the people behind the work, discover how and why they make, and purchase directly from them.
Across the afternoon, explore artisan demonstrations, hands-on workshops, Meet the Maker conversations and the Heritage Hands exhibition, with opportunities to see traditional and specialist skills up close and learn directly from people who practise them.
The festival also extends beyond the Town Hall, with heritage and community activations around Sandgate inviting you to explore the stories, places and people that make this bayside village such a fitting home for Heritage Hands.
Heritage Hands began in Sandgate as a documentary photography and storytelling project celebrating artisans preserving traditional trades and crafts across Australia. It has since grown into a broader program creating opportunities for people to experience, learn and share the skills and knowledge that form part of our living heritage.
Come for an hour or spend the afternoon exploring, meeting makers and discovering skills you may never have experienced before.
