Event description

Hobart House Concert presents two international artists coming to a backyard in Moonah, straight from Cygnet Folk Festival!

With a “voice of milk and honey” as described by Anais Mitchell, Chloe Matharu is amulti-Award winning Scottish-Indian singer songwriter and harpist from the West Coast of Scotland. Many of her songs draw on her time as a Navigational Officer in the Merchant Navy, inspired by the natural world as experienced at sea. On tour she performs solo with her harp in Scots and English.

Contorting the violin into new traditions, violinist/composer Jaron Freeman-Fox dances down the fine line between the beautiful and the absurd, while redefining what the violin is capable of. Always on the move, Jaron has produced or played on over 40 albums (Jayme Stone, Autorickshaw, Teresa Doyle) and has toured the world as a solo artist, frontman and collaborator. The Toronto-based musician has fused his fiddling roots with his study of jazz and Indian classical music, as well as electronics. He will be joined by percussionist Rose Callaghan for this performance.
