Tintype Portrait Sessions: Hihiaua Cultural Centre
Description
Wet Plate Portraits at Hihiaua Cultural Centre — Whangārei
9–10 January 2027
I’ll be bringing my mobile darkroom to Hihiaua Cultural Centre for two days of wet plate portrait sessions.
If you’d like to make your portrait especially meaningful, you’re very welcome to bring along a traditional kākahu or taonga to include in your portrait.
Wet plate photography is a beautiful, slow and tangible process - each portrait is made by hand on a plate of glass or aluminium, creating a unique one-off image with the character of an 1850s photograph.
Bring the whānau, bring something special, and create a portrait to keep as an heirloom for generations to come.
Up to two people per plate.
