Hi and huge welcome to Hiking for Health!

Hike Fit in 6 Weeks - - 6 week walking & hiking program; from 2-10kms

Starts Friday March 7th - then every Friday until April 11th 2025

This program is facilitated by two qualified Day Walk Leaders who are also Integrative Nutrition Health coaches. Both facilitators also have an extensive background in nursing. 

HIKE FIT IN 6 WEEKS is designed to combine the incredible benefits of hiking with the principles of Integrative Health & Lifestyle Coaching to;

 Boost Your Mood – Time in nature reduces stress, anxiety, and depression by lowering cortisol and increasing those feel-good endorphins.

 Build Strength Naturally – Hiking is a full-body workout, improving cardiovascular health, core stability, and muscle tone while being gentle on your joints.

 Improve Mental Clarity – Walking in nature helps clear your mind, increase focus and spark creativity.

 Strengthen Immunity – Exposure to fresh air and sunlight can enhance your immune system and overall vitality.

 Connect Deeply - Our program provides the perfect blend of movement and connection, creating a supportive environment to prioritise YOU.

 OVERVIEW: This program provides the perfect blend of movement and connection, creating a supportive environment to prioritise YOU. Over a 6 week period we gradually increase walking/hiking distances to help participants build endurance and strength, all while socialising, enjoying nature and reaping the benefits of low-impact exercise. For a limited time we're offering an introductory price of just $150pp.

Each week will include 1 guided walk/hike (plus 2 self-directed walks/hikes), an abundance of health coaching tips for improving well-being and cross-training exercises to enhance your fitness. 

The full summer HIKE FIT IN 6 WEEKS program will be available on registration but here's a sneak peak into what you'll get:

Week 1: Start Small, Build Confidence 8am GRANGE JETTY TO HENLEY BEACH (one way with option of return) - 2.2kms

Week 2: Finding Your Rhythm 8am LARGS BAY TO NORTH HAVEN RETURN (STRATHFIELD TERRACE) - 4kms

Week 3: Stepping Up the Challenge 8am WEST BEACH SLSC TO GLENELG PIER RETURN - 6kms

Week 4: Finding Your Flow 8am END OF PIER STREET GLENELG (BEACH) TO BRIGHTON JETTY RETURN - 8kms

Week 5: Reaching the Summit 8am CRAFERS TO MOUNT LOFTY RETURN (Park in Park ‘n Ride Crafers) - 9kms

Week 6: Embrace the Adventure 8am HALLET COVE BOARDWALK RETURN (meet at The Boatshed Café) - 10kms

All walks will be followed by a cafe stop (own cost) for a well-deserved juice, green smoothie, chai....or coffee!

ABOUT YOUR DAY WALK LEADERS 

Professionally, we are Certified Health and Lifestyle Coaches - graduates of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. In addition, we have 30+ years experience in Nursing; including Midwifery, Child and Family Health and as Lactation Consultants. For over 20 years we have been committed to a 'Live Clean' lifestyle and, as passionate advocates for a 'better way' model of health, we have been proactive in many community, sustainability and health initiatives.

Having facilitated a social hiking group for over six years, in October 2024 we qualified as Day Walk Leaders (Bushwalking Leadership, SA) with the intention of launching Hiking for Health - a supportive community designed to combine the benefits of hiking with the principles of Integrative Health & Lifestyle Coaching.

Our group has done a variety of hikes in SA, Tasmania, Ireland and Europe - including The Flinders Ranges, The Willunga Basin, The Adelaide 100, Walk the York and The 800km Camino through Spain.Expect plenty of laughs, practical tips, and maybe a few stories from “back home” (Northern Ireland) as we guide you on a path to better health. And lots of some new friendships, too!Hiking for Health is perfect for anyone looking to improve their health through hiking, whether they’re seasoned hikers or just lacing up their boots for the first time!
