🏕️ HikingQTs Overnight Adventure: Beeripmo Walk & Mount Buangor Loop! 🏕️

Pack your bags and lace up your boots, QTs! We're heading out for an unforgettable overnight hike on the Beeripmo Walk and Mount Buangor Loop. This 21 km circuit trail in the stunning Mount Cole State Forest and Mount Buangor State Park offers a perfect blend of adventure and breathtaking views.

Last summer’s fires left their mark on this beautiful landscape, and now, we have the rare opportunity to witness the forest’s regeneration in real time. It’s a powerful reminder of nature’s ability to bounce back, with new growth pushing through the ashes and wildlife slowly returning to their habitats. There’s something truly special about walking through a place that’s healing and thriving again. 🌱🌿

🌲 Trail Highlights:

  • Day 1: We'll kick off our journey at Richards Campground, trekking approximately 9 km through lush fern gullies and majestic eucalypt forests. Along the way, we'll be treated to panoramic vistas of Mount Langi Ghiran and the distant Grampians. Our destination for the night is the serene Beeripmo Campground, nestled among towering trees—a perfect spot to share stories and marshmallows under the stars.

  • Day 2: After a hearty breakfast, we'll embark on the remaining 12 km loop back to Richards Campground. The trail offers a mix of gentle slopes and invigorating climbs, with plenty of opportunities to soak in the natural beauty and snap some Insta-worthy pics.

🎒 What to Bring:

  • Hiking Boots: Sturdy and comfortable footwear is a must for the varied terrain.

  • Backpack: Enough space for your gear, but remember—pack light!

  • Water: At least 3 liters per day. While there's a rainwater tank at Beeripmo Campground, it's untreated, so bring a reliable water filter or purification tablets.

  • Food: Meals for two days, plus some extra snacks. Think energy bars, trail mix, and easy-to-cook camp meals.

  • Camping Gear: Lightweight tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad for a cozy night's sleep.

  • Clothing: Layer up! Pack moisture-wicking base layers, a warm jacket, and a rainproof outer layer. Don't forget a hat and gloves—it can get chilly!

  • Toiletries: Biodegradable soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, and a small towel. There are toilets at the start of the hike and at the campsite.

  • Headlamp or Flashlight: For those late-night bathroom trips.

  • Sunscreen & Bug Spray: Protect your skin from the sun and pesky insects.

  • Trekking Poles: Optional, but they can be helpful on steeper sections.

📅 Details:

  • Meeting Point & Time: To be announced closer to the date.

  • Carpooling: Head to discord to coordinate rides if you need a lift or have spare room in your car.

This hike is suitable for those with a moderate fitness level. While it's a beginner-friendly overnight hike, be prepared for some steep sections and carrying your own pack. But don't worry—we'll take it at a pace that suits everyone, with plenty of breaks to rest and enjoy the scenery.

**Don't have any overnight gear? Thanks to the folks at Paddy Pallin, we have three sets of gear for QTs to loan for the trip that comprise of: 1 x tent, 1 x sleeping bag and liner, 1 x sleeping mat and one stove set. This is limited availability and will be on a first in best dressed basis.**

So, are you ready to embark on this epic overnight adventure with your fellow HikingQTs? Let's make memories, conquer trails, and enjoy the great outdoors together!
