My Health, My Language: National Bilingual Health Educator Forum
Event description
Join Us at My Health, My Language: National Bilingual Health Educator Forum 2025
Across Australia, bilingual health educators are leading the way in providing culturally responsive, community-led health education for migrant and refugee communities. But to truly achieve health equity, we must invest in the people who make it possible.
Join us in Naarm (Melbourne) this September for the National Bilingual Health Educator Forum, a landmark event hosted by the Multicultural Centre for Women’s Health (MCWH) to celebrate and strengthen our national bilingual health educator workforce.
This Forum marks the first national in-person gathering of the Health in My Language (HIML) workforce, which delivers in-language health education to migrant and refugee communities, since the program launched in 2022. It’s a unique opportunity to learn directly from a workforce of bilingual health educators who are improving health outcomes, building trust, and bridging the gap between health systems and communities.
If you are a bilingual health educator, bicultural worker, health advocate, practitioner, policy maker, or researcher, service provider or capacity builder in migrant and refugee health, this event is for you.
You’ll hear from experts in bilingual health education about:
Insights and learnings from the first three years of Health in My Language
A gendered approach to bilingual health education
The impact of bilingual health education on migrant and refugee health, particularly for migrant and refugee women
Strategies to better engage with diverse communities
The case for recognition of a national bilingual health educator workforce
What’s next for bilingual health education in Australia
The program includes a thought-provoking panel discussion, breakout room activities where you’ll have a chance to connect and network, and practical tools to support systems-level change.
Join us to celebrate and learn from the achievements of the Health in My Language workforce – together we can help shape a future where health care is delivered with language, respect, and equity at its core.
