Maretha Smit - Chief Executive at Diversity Works New Zealand

Maretha is the Chief Executive of Diversity Works New Zealand, having taken up this role right in the middle of the first Covid-19 lockdown in 2020. She has a background and qualifications in behavioural and business sciences and has held three transformational Chief Executive roles in South Africa, prior to her immigration to New Zealand about seven years ago – in the disability sector, local government and health sector respectively. She has also recently completed a six-year term as Trustee of Belong Aotearoa, a specialist settlement agency that focuses on addressing the barriers to successful integration of newcomers in New Zealand. Maretha has a strong commitment to issues of social justice and a deep understanding of the way in which intersectional layers of prejudice have an impact on societal and employment outcomes.

Wendy Alexander- Founder and Director at Kin

Wendy co-founded Kin, a quiet recruitment disruptor in 2017. After more than 20 years in and around the field of employee experience and recruitment, Wendy sensed that Kiwi businesses were ready for a fresh approach to attracting and retaining talent. Seven years on, Kin has worked with over 250 companies across Aotearoa, supporting them to power their businesses by employing incredible humans.

Dan Martin - Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Specialist at Education Perfect

Dan joins us from Education Perfect, a global company providing a toolkit of learning, assessment and analytics features designed to help teachers engage students, track growth and differentiate their teaching. Dan champions DE&I across the organisation, building foundations to create truly equitable opportunities for everyone within recruitment, promotions, learning and development, and more. In 2023, Education Perfect won HRNZ's Diversity & Inclusion award for their work in creating more accommodating spaces and practices to include their non-native English speakers.
