Historical Dance Short Course - French Baroque
Event description
Immerse yourself in eighteenth-century French dance!
This 4 week course focuses on eighteenth-century contredanses. These were the social dances from court. Using intricate steps, in these dances we weave around each other, creating beautiful patterns.
Alongside simple dances, we have a special focus on Menuet a quatre from 1713.
All are welcome to join, beginner to experienced.
Classes are on each Tuesday (6th May, 13th May, 20th May, 27th May) from 6:30pm-7:30pm
Please be ready to dance each week at 6:30pm, it is a requirement that you participate in the warm-up.
Wear jazz dance shoes (if you do not own these, wear comfortable, supportive shoes with low grip). Please bring a water bottle.
The steps are simple and easy to execute, but as with any dance, please be careful if you have any injuries and let the teacher know before class starts.
Any questions, please reach out to sydneybaroqueballet@gmail.com.
This term is paid by the term, if you are aware before term starts that you will not be able to attend a week, please let the teacher know so we can organise an alternate fee.
