Fri, 5 Sep, 6:30pm - 7:40pm AEST

Event description

Be mesmerised by the timeless beauty of J.S. Bach's three baroque dances - the Courante, the Sarabande and the Gigue - reimagined through the youthful artistry of three talented dancers from A&L Academie de Danse.

Each Bach dance has been thoughtfully paired with a 21st-century work that matches the vitality, elegance and playful character of Bach's masterpieces.

The 'Sarabande' matches the gentle 'Soliloquy' by local composer John Corley (written especially for Alexandra Donaldson and Lisa Kawai), while the lively 'Gigue' pairs beautifully with the joyful 'Ecstatic Dance' by Sydney-based composer Ross Edwards.

The 'Courante' is the prelude to the final work 'Creation III' by Spanish composer Óscar Navarro, which erupts with a lively, dance-like energy, driving us towards an exhilarating and spectacular conclusion to the concert.
