Join and sing !! An unforgettable musical experience as together we sing Handel’s Messiah!

Whether you’re a seasoned chorister or new to classical music, this event promises a joyous celebration.

Bring your voice, enthusiasm, and love for music.

All voices are welcome, and no prior experience is necessary.

This year we are offering this wonderful opportunity further afield to the greater Hobart community, to everyone far and wide, to all,- a great chance for you to join with others, to rehearse & perform Handel's Messiah. The weekend workshop will be lead and conducted by renowned composer and Conductor Simon Reade accompanied by the Argyle Orchestra and celebrated local soloists:

Brief details are as follows

• Saturday 22nd of November will be an all day rehearsal, 10am - 5pm at Town Hall

• Sunday 23rd of November (morning) is a full dress rehearsal, 10am - 1pm City Hall

• Sunday 23rd November (afternoon) is the public performance, starting at 3pm City Hall

• Optional extra rehearsals will be offered at $5 per session. The dates and times of these are as follows:

  Sunday 2 November 2-5pm

  Saturday 8 November 2-5pm

  Sunday 16 November 2-5pm

  The venue is Hobart City High School - Ogilvie Campus, music room

• A list of suggested resources for assistance with rehearsing your part will be provided. Prior experience of singing the Messiah is not a pre-requisite, however singers are encouraged to have prepared their part prior to rehearsals commencing.

• In order to participate in this weekend event, a small fee of $35 per singer will be charged.

• The Novello Watkins Shaw edition vocal score, from which we will be singing can be ordered for $30 when you buy your participation ticket.

• A photocopied booklet of the choral pieces the choir will be singing is available at a cost of $10 - note that this is not the full score.

• Your order of either the score or the booklet can be collected from Fullers Bookshop (131 Collins Street Hobart), at your first rehearsal or via private arrangement by contacting the organisers via email - argyleorchestra@gmail.com.

• You will need to select the most convenient location for collection when you reach the ticket section of this event listing.
