HOLDING: Bag Design


Event description

Over the course of two days, participants will develop foundational skills necessary to design and build their own Bicycle Frame Bag. Beyond technical skills and creative expression, this class also fosters critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Participants learn to address challenges such as weight distribution, ergonomic design, and weather resistance, ensuring that their bags perform optimally in demanding outdoor conditions.


Some core topics include:

  • Basic and advanced sewing principles with standard home sewing machine
  • Repair-centered design theory
  • Techniques for using garbage as a primary material

Who Should Join:

  • Individuals who want to learn foundational skills to build functional bags and gear.

Criteria:

  • Schedule: The program operates from 8am - 2pm on both days, Saturday and Sunday.
  • Location: We will be operating out of MAKE: Santa Fe's incredible sewing facility. A portion of each sale goes directly to supporting this organization!
  • Equipment: Community sewing machines are available for use, but it is highly recommended that you bring your own - including thread, scissors, and fabrics. We will be providing materials, zippers, sliders, and other relevant supplies.
