Hole lotta fun: Artistic mending
Event description
Reinvent your wardrobe through creative mending
Join our creative and inspiring sewing class to discover how to turn clothes and textiles into unique and beautiful statements. Learn a range of artistic mending techniques to repair holes and rips, cover marks and imperfections, or just add a new and personal touch to old items.
During the session we'll show you how to repair and upstyle your clothing using different techniques, including the beautiful Japanese art of sashiko, using patches, applique, and embroidery in your designs, and simple but bold visible mending techniques that celebrate the story of your clothes.
Unleash your inner artist, give your favourite garments a new lease on life, and make a unique and sustainable fashion statement.
What to bring
All skill levels are welcome, and most materials are provided; though you’re welcome to bring your own sewing kit if you like.
If possible, bring one or more textile or clothing items from home that you'd like to work on or get help with. If you have some, also bring fabric for your patches that is a similar weight to the fabric of your garment.
If you don't have clothing or scraps to bring, we'll have plenty of materials at the session for you to use.
Who is it for?
This session is for anyone wanting to learn artistic repair techniques, personalise their clothes and textiles, or make bespoke articles for themselves or others.
By creating beautiful, individual pieces, we add value to existing objects and ensure they stay loved and appreciated for years to come.
Additional info
Children over 12 are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
The session will be held indoors.
