Event description

Need a few hours to finish up last-minute errands or simply enjoy some quiet time before the holidays? Drop your kids off at Austin Creative Reuse for a fun, creative, and meaningful morning! Our experienced instructor will guide kids through several hands-on projects using upcycled or repurposed materials—teaching them the value of reusing and repurposing while creating beautiful handmade gifts they can proudly give to family and friends.

Each child will leave with a collection of thoughtful, one-of-a-kind creations perfect for the holiday season. Plus, they’ll have the satisfaction of knowing they helped keep materials out of the landfill while unleashing their creativity!

This workshop is appropriate for ages 5-12 only. Minors do not have to be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the workshop. Adults must come inside to drop their minor off with the workshop instructor. Drop off begins 10 minutes before the scheduled start time, and everyone must be picked up at the scheduled end of the workshop.

About the Instructor

Barbara Paris’s work can be found in many public and private art collections throughout North and South America.

Currently based in Austin, Texas, she was born in New York City and raised in New Jersey. Barbara received her B.A. in Art Education and B.F.A. in Studio Art from the University of Massachusetts.

Barbara describes her work as intention. That is, she puts the paint where it belongs and the paint goes on to become what it is. She works with strong color and texture, adding elements such as glass and paper to the canvas, the purpose of which is to surround herself with things that make her feel good, and to share that feeling with others.

See more of Barbara's art at her website.
