‘Home Birth’ is a 45 minute documentary that celebrates the magic of birthing at home in Aotearoa. The film explores the experiences, challenges and power of home birthing in New Zealand, highlighting personal stories and expert insights to encourage informed discussions about place of birth options in NZ. The film is produced by Sarah Dow, Directed by Isaac Te Reina and funded by Health New Zealand.

The North Auckland Homebirth Community has been established to support and connect homebirth communities across North Auckland and surrounding areas, including the North Shore and Rodney Districts.

We acknowledge that for most people, birth isn’t a medical event. For well women and babies, birthing at home is safe, and can provide the optimal environment for physiological birth to unfold, providing a positive and gentle transition for māmā and pēpi.

We believe that Homebirth is a philosophy that can be extended beyond the home. It is about supporting and protecting the physiology of birth and trusting our body’s wisdom and our innate capabilities as women and mothers. We are passionate about supporting people with education and by linking them with other professionals and organisations who support this philosophy.

Our purpose for this group is to provide information, connection, and resources to support birth at home and to build a community of like-minded people connected to and interested in the homebirth space.
