Home School Learning Day: Spring in the Garden
Description
Exciting learning adventures await your home schoolers this Spring!
Join the Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium's Education Team for a special day designed exclusively for home school families.
Our new Home School Learning Days adapt our much-loved school education programs into a format that allows home school families to access high-quality, curriculum-informed learning experiences in a supportive small-group setting.
Through hands-on activities, cultural learning and guided exploration, children can connect with nature, build confidence, and learn alongside a community of curious learners.
Don't miss your chance to join us in nature's classroom, where curiosity grows, learning comes alive and children can connect with culture, plants and the wonders of Spring!
Students will:
Take part in engaging outdoor hands-on activities, and cultural learning experiences that encourage curiosity, discovery and connection to nature with a seasonal focus on Spring.
Explore the living collections of Adelaide Botanic Garden while developing an understanding of plants, pollinators, sustainability, and Aboriginal knowledge and culture.

- Class sizes & supervision
Class sizes
A maximum of 15 participating children may attend
Supervision
Learners must be accompanied by a supervising adult at all times.
A teacher or responsible person in a preschool setting must be in charge of all camps or excursions.
Please ensure enough adult supervision to supervise your learners. For the best experience for all involved we recommend the Department for Education ratios for excursions.
The minimum adult (staff, instructors and volunteers) to student ratio (excluding the teacher in charge or the responsible person in a preschool setting) is:
• 1:6 for preschool to year 2.
• 1:10 for years 3 to 7.
• 1:15 for years 8 to 12.
Some activities may have a higher ratio if the activity has a prescribed ratio and the risk assessment or needs of the students attending indicates a higher ratio is needed.
- Weather Policy
Programs will proceed in light wet weather.
Events will only be cancelled in cases of severe weather, including:
Forecast rainfall exceeding 7mm
