Home Truths: Sydney's Housing Crisis & the LGBTQIA+ Community
Event description
This Pride Month, Queers in Property NSW in collaboration with Shelter NSW invite you to a special presentation on the housing crisis facing Sydney's LGBTQIA+ Community.
The presentation will focus on the crucial research authored by Kath Buden (she/her) Teremok - Examining the intersectionality of housing needs for the LGBTIQA+ community across the City of Sydney and provide further insights on the growing need for the establishment of a LGBTQIA+ Community Housing Provider (CHP).
Funded by the City of Sydney, the research identifies the current housing needs of Sydney's LGBTQIA+ Community, outlines opportunities to tackle the identified gaps (through an intersectional lens) and provides an Advocacy 'Toolkit' to offer proactively guidance for those providing housing services to LGBTQIA+ people.
Joining Kath, after the presentation will be a panel of guest speakers to further unpack the research and discuss the reality of establishing Australia's first LGBTQIA+ CHP.
