Homeward Bound Walk
Event description
The last Census shows that, on any given night, at least 30,000 Victorians are without a home (including 6,800 children).
They’re living in their car, staying somewhere temporary like a tent or a friend’s couch, in a shelter or refuge, or have nowhere to go at all.
In a country as wealthy as Australia, no-one should be without a home. Housing ends Homelessness!
So, put on your walking shoes and join us at Ringwood Lake on August 5th, for an interactive walk to help raise awareness of homelessness in our community and the need for more social housing.
We'll also be supporting the Houses at Parliament Campaign, so bring along a folded origami house (or two!) to add to our display.
10am to 12pm
Find us near the soundshell
Coffee available for purchase
What to Bring: Origami House / BYO Water bottle / Umbrella (just in case) / Donation of non-perishable food for those experiencing homelessness (optional)
This event is in support of National Homelessness Week 2025 (4th - 10th August) and is held to raise awareness of the causes of homelessness and the solutions. #HW2025
Please register so we know you're coming!
This walk is not designed to be a competition or a race. It is expected that those walking will do so at a pace that is easy and comfortable. It is your decision as to how many laps of the Lake you wish to do. However, the more laps you complete the more you will read and learn about what it's like to be homeless in our community.
