Honey Island Swamp Band
Event description
Honey Island Swamp Band
June 27 | Doors 8PM | Show 9PM | Public House, Crested Butte
Honey Island Swamp Band brings their thrilling, genre-blurring sound to Public House on June 27. Formed in San Francisco in 2005 after being displaced from New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina, the band has since returned home and evolved into one of the most dynamic voices in contemporary roots music.
Known for their mix of swampy blues, Southern rock, funk, and folk—Honey Island Swamp Band has built a reputation for elastic song structures, sharp musicianship, and melody-rich songwriting. The five-piece—Aaron Wilkinson, Lee Yankee, Sam Price, Chris Spies, and Garland Paul—are touring in support of Custom Deluxe (out now on Color Red Music), their most cohesive and satisfying album to date.
Expect high-energy performances of tracks like “High River Rag,” “Wildfire,” and “Sugar for Sugar,” as the band showcases their deep catalog and improvisational spirit, in the vein of Van Morrison and the Allman Brothers Band.
