Engage your senses in this unique honey tasting and beeswax candle making experience. Learn about how honey is harvested and enjoy a delicious honey tasting from Coastal Nectar's beehives. During this interactive + educational workshop, you'll learn about the the gentle art of beekeeping, different types of native bees and why bees are vital to our environment & the food we eat. We'll finish by hand-rolling our own pure beeswax candle to take home and enjoy.  Led by Thomas Earls, a passionate local beekeeper and educator, this workshop will take you on a sweet journey through the fascinating world of bees.

What's covered in the workshop:

    HONEY HONEY HONEY
    Native Bees + Pollination
    The Queen Bee and her role within the hive
    Current impacts on bees & how we protect them
    Beeswax Candle Making . Participants will hand roll their own beeswax candle to take home
     Engage in an informative Q&A with a local beekeeper, where you'll get an opportunity to ask any questions about honey, beekeeping and how to create a pollinator garden. 

What's Included 

  • A 2 hour workshop led by Tom of Coastal Nectar 
  • All materials for demonstrations included
  • One cold or warm drink from the Cafe
  • Late lunch (please add any dietaries in at checkout) 

What to Wear & Bring 

  • Please note: to protect yourself on the property, you must wear closed-toed shoes.  
  • Please bring a waterbottle and your own materials for note taking. 


Thomas is a passionate beekeeper, surfer and educator living on the Surfcoast. Inspired by this coastlines diverse wildflowers + flowering natives, you can often find him running to the waves after a long hot day spent working with 500,000 honey bees.His local business Coastal Nectar, is putting a modern twist on the 9000 year tradition of beekeeping. Providing raw local honey to our community and running interactive & educational presentations all about the buzzing world of bees.


NOTE: Due to allergy risks, no live bees will be brought to the workshop. Suitable for ages 12 +
