    Event description

    Join Bellarine Catchment Network and the Friends of the Hooded Plover Bellarine at this interactive walk and talk along the Point Lonsdale foreshore. Find out all about the special beach-nesting birds that share our shores, the Hooded Plover. This event is family-friendly and participants will be provided with binoculars to see these tiny birds!

    This activity is aimed at both children over 5 and adults, so all are welcome. Adults need to accompany children under 12 and supervise children at all times. There are limited spots registration is essential.

    What's involved: Participants will go on a walk along the Point Lonsdale foreshore looking for Hooded Plovers and learning about their biology and conservation. At the end of the session, participants will also receive educational resources such as posters, brochures and more at the end of the session.

    Please BYO: hat, sunscreen, water and if possible, booties or enclosed shoes like sneakers (no flip flops or sandals). It is suggested to wear bathers or shorts if intending to enter the water.

    Access and Parking: Please meet adjacent to the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club along Ocean Road, Point Lonsdale. There is street parking and a public toilet. Look out for staff wearing orange t-shirts.

    Note: Please do not attend if you are unwell. This event is also subject to weather conditions and will be postponed if weather is not safe or unfavourable. All participants will be notified 24 hours before.

    This event is supported by the Borough of Queenscliffe who work to protect the coastline of Point Lonsdale and Queenscliffe and the Friends of the Hooded Plover who volunteer to conserve our special birds.
