Event description

Our Annual H00kers and Strippers Ball this year is set to be a big celebration!! It is the 30 year anniversary of the partial-decriminalisation of SW in NSW - which was a world first and is endorsed globally by human rights organisations as the best-practice legislative model. It's also 40 years since the funding of the Australian Pr0stitutes Collective - the forerunner of SWOP NSW (another world first) and the 50 year anniversary of the occupation of Saint-Nizier Church in Lyon. Here SWrs, with the support of allies, drew attention to their dangerous working conditions, police harassment, violence and other detrimental social and legal conditions. This was the first formal organising of sex workers, and gave birth to the modern SWr rights movement we see now. The occupation of Lyon is celebrated globally on 2nd June each year as Sx Wkr Rights Day.

SO there's much to celebrate! In the spirit of the achievement of partial-decriminalisation in 1995, the theme is 90's! We'll have performers, dj's, prizes, a bar tab, and a forum beforehand.
