Horse & Dog Awareness Workshop

Does your dog listen? Does your horse listen? Do you listen?

Instead of automatically reaching out, calling an animal over or making eye contact, we pause. No touch. No eye contact. No talk.  We observe. We breathe. We wait.

And we allow the animal to choose whether to come closer. Waiting for a horse or dog to touch us creates a safer space for the animal than assuming we are entitled to touch them first. It gives them choice — and teaches us that connection doesn’t have to be something we make happen.

Horses and dogs are one pathway we have for reclaiming more of ourselves. The beautiful part is we have to be humble, listen and observe. Once we start noticing, we realise we can perceive way more than we thought. Our new Horse & Dog Awareness Workshop at Dune Lakes, for anyone who would like to discover how our energy, presence and body language speak to animals — often long before we say a word — and how greater awareness can create a safer, calmer space for both human and animal.

Through simple, experiential exercises with our horses and dogs, we’ll explore body language, boundaries, choice, consent, calmness and communication — learning how to feel more confident and relaxed in the presence of animals. Perhaps the greatest lesson the animals offer us is this: When we start noticing and become calm enough to listen, a whole new conversation begins.

No previous experience required. No need to be “good with animals”.  Just curiosity, an open mind and a willingness to slow down and listen.  If you’re 9 or 90 — everyone is welcome.
