Gradient Institute is an independent, not-for-profit research institute whose purpose is to progress the research, design, development and adoption of ethical AI systems.
The Institute was announced in December 2018 through a joint media release by IAG (Australia’s largest general insurer), CSIRO’s Data61 and The University of Sydney.
We are a technical research institute and our staff have backgrounds in machine learning research and practice. We work with organisations to design and evaluate AI systems, perform technical research into techniques for enabling AI systems to operate ethically and train organisations on the development, procurement and operation of ethical AI systems.
