We all need community – and in business that’s even more important. As the CEO of Venus Businesswomen I’m dedicated to fostering a community of women who are a driving force for the growth and development of female-owned businesses.
For nearly 20 years, I built an IT business on my own – struggling through the tough times and enjoying the great times alone. Then I discovered Venus – and found my community. Joining Venus made me realise just how much I’d learned over 20 years in business – and made me keen to share that experience with women who it could help.
After several years in management positions within the organisation, I bought Venus in 2017. Since taking it over, I’ve transformed it into a not-for-profit organisation and am passionate about building a network of women who work together to grow and develop their businesses.
I’ve learned two things throughout my career that I’ll stand by until the end of time:
1. Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right (Henry Ford)
2. In business, an idiot with a plan can beat a genius without one (Warren Buffet)
I bring that combination of mindset and planning to growing Venus and coaching our members. I believe in challenging people – asking them questions that will help them to stretch themselves, dream big, and see the potential in themselves that I see in them.
