The organisers of Japan Festival Byron Bay aim to share Japanese Culture joyfully in the heart of Byron Bay as an annual event, starting in 2017.
A not-to-be-missed Byron festival with exciting food and market stalls, an indoor art exhibition, and activities for young and old, including art, dance, music, and arts performances like taiko drumming, kimono dress-up & photo opportunity, Bon Odori traditional community dance and more!!!
The Byron-Japanese community is growing every year, and more and more people are interested in sharing and learning about the culture. The first permanent Japanese settlers arrived to live in Byron area in the mid-1970s. Cultural exchange here continues into the present in some beautiful ways, such as through education, Japanese cuisine, the Arts, and community.
These days, it’s getting easier for non-Japanese to take the opportunity to travel to Japan, even to live and work there, immersed in the cultural landscape. Returning home, the Japan Festival Byron Bay is a great chance to get back in touch with some of the many things everyone loves about the country and its people. It’ll definitely be a lot of fun!
As a community, we come together now to build stronger friendship bridges, and to create greater harmony and understanding between our cultures.
Contact us via Facebook messenger if you’d like to become a sponsor, set up a stall, offer a performance or cultural activity, or volunteer to assist the organising team.
With peace and love, let’s celebrate and have a great time!
