The Watson Micro-forest is an urban oasis in the suburbs. Crowd-funded and people-powered, this project is helping to cool our suburb, increase habitat for native animals, absorb carbon, and provide an attractive, safe and comfortable place for kids and adults to meet, play and relax. The forest was planted in 2021 and consists of around 1,300 beautiful, climate-resilient native plants. Clever landscaping means the forest will naturally retains water, reducing the need for irrigation. The Watson Micro-forest features nature play for kids, a forest classroom, and aims to give First Nations culture a central place including through bush tucker plants and cultural signage.
