Red Canary Song is a grassroots collective of APIA and Asian migrant sex workers, massage workers, and allies basebuilding in Flushing through mutual aid and community care, forming coalitions with sex worker rights and abolitionist orgs transnationally. RCS formed in 2017 in response to the death of a Chinese migrant massage worker, Yang Song, who fell from a four story building during a police raid. Working with Butterfly (Toronto) and MPoP (Seattle), we aim to empower Asian migrant massage workers with tenants of decriminalizing sex work and respecting all forms of labor.
Body care work is sacred and dignified work, whether erotic services are offered or not. The history of American discriminatory policies that targeted Asian immigrants, especially women, along with the white military imperialism in the Eastern and Southern countries has directly influenced the ongoing fetishization, dehumanization, and violence towards Asian and other BIWOC, including LGBTQ and nonbinary peoples.
