We (IW4R) are a non-incorporated community based and led group. We formed to mobilise our Inner West community to shift attitudes and advocate to our elected political leaders on behalf of people seeking asylum. We do this through community outreach actions, providing training on how to have persuasive conversations about people seeking asylum, coordinated letter writing campaigns, and direct political engagement with our local MPs. We work in collaboration with other community groups and community services organisations in the inner west and surrounding suburbs of Sydney providing referrals and directing material donations to these vital services. IW4R was established in 2019 with the initial support of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC). IW4R is an unaffiliated organisation and seeks to build effective partnerships with like-minded organisations. We are principally focussed on the communities within the Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the Inner West, Burwood and Strathfield. We also work and partner with like-minded organisations and communities in adjacent LGAs.
