The Port Adelaide Historical Society, founded in 1972, stands as one of the largest and most vibrant historical societies in South Australia. With a membership exceeding 200, including 15 esteemed Life Members, we are dedicated to our mission.
Guided by our motto, ‘Preserving the Past for the Future’, we engage in a diverse array of roles and activities that celebrate the history and heritage of the Port Adelaide region. Our efforts include building, cataloguing, and showcasing our extensive collection, conducting research for a variety of individuals and organisations, and publishing the Society’s quarterly magazine and various books.
We also organise walking and bus tours, present both onsite and offsite exhibitions, provide consultation for historic place-making, and document contemporary events.
Furthermore, we actively collaborate with other historical organisations operating within the area to enhance our collective impact
