Tania Astans (known on media as Tania Temple Cat) is a multicultural and multilingual holistic wellness practitioner based in the Northern Rivers, NSW
Born in Iran in 1979, Tania grew up in an Armenian community in the city of Tehran.
After leaving Iran and her family at 21, she travelled extensively. She has studied and practiced Buddhism, Shamanism, Mysticism, and Sufism, as well as the healing arts of Ayurveda, Massage Therapy, and Holistic Psychotherapy.
She also has a deep love and respect for working with herbs and plant medicines, integrating her learnings from master plants into her work and daily life. In recent years, she has been practising Dervish Whirling (a form of dynamic meditation also known as Sufi Dancing), and studying Rumi’s work with her Iranian female teacher, Afsaneh Tarfiee.
Tania has a deep passion for using storytelling as a powerful, transformative tool as part of her holistic psychotherapy and teaching.
She grew up with and was schooled in Farsi (Persian), the original language of Rumi's poetry. Her broad range of knowledge and life experience has enabled her to receive the deep hidden layers of Rumi’s messages and profound Humanistic teachings, imparted to her by Afsaneh.
Tania realized that there are currently no English translations with such depth, and it is important for English speaking people to have access to these precious Mystic teachings.
