The Zambi Wildlife Foundation was established in 2020 with the primary goal of becoming a global leader in wildlife conservation and setting a new benchmark for animal welfare organisations internationally. The Zambi Wildlife Foundation represents the exciting evolution of the Zambi Wildlife Retreat, a retirement sanctuary for animals from the circus and entertainment industry, zoo breeding programs and private ownership, set up in 2012. The foundations namesake, Zambi, was the first lion cub raised at the retreat after it was rejected by its mother. In 2020 Zambi merged with an iconic native wildlife sanctuary the Kangaroo Protection Co-operative, to create the Zambi Native Wildlife Sanctuary. Today, the Zambi name is synonymous with animal welfare and has become a conservation movement. With the Zambi Wildlife Foundation representing the broader scope of the activities of the organisation, lasting positive impacts for wildlife around the world will be far reaching.
