Slow Food South Australia is part of the global Slow Food movement supporting local producers and sustainable production of food that is Good, Clean and Fair for all. We engage and educate local South Australian communities and food producers to discover more about their abundant food heritage and edible biodiversity.
Founded in 1989 by Italian journalist and environmental activist Carlo Petrini, Slow Food is a non-profit, grassroots organisation that aims to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from and how it tastes. The Slow Food network has grown into a movement involving millions of people in over 160 countries.
