At Afrikindness, we work to create inclusive environments where children and young people, regardless of their racial, cultural, or neurodiverse background, can thrive, build resilience, and develop a strong sense of belonging. We recognise that many children and families face challenges linked to discrimination, racial identity, social exclusion, mental health, and unequal access to opportunities. Through our programmes and partnerships, we aim to address these challenges by creating safe spaces for learning, dialogue, empowerment, and support.
Our work spans education, community engagement, mentoring, advocacy, and family support. We deliver a wide range of initiatives designed to equip children, young people, parents, educators, and community leaders with the knowledge, confidence, and practical tools needed to build healthier relationships and stronger communities. These include educational workshops, leadership programmes, community awareness campaigns, mentoring initiatives, research projects, and culturally informed parent training.
As an organisation, we are passionate about helping young people realise their potential. Through projects such as our Empower Project and Teens Leadership Academy, we provide opportunities for young people to build confidence, leadership skills, resilience, communication abilities, and positive life pathways. Our programmes include workshops on identity, emotional wellbeing, resilience, digital literacy, anti-racism, cultural understanding, and social development, alongside creative and experiential learning activities that encourage self-expression and personal growth. We also provide supplementary educational support and mentoring opportunities that help young people feel encouraged, inspired, and supported in their journeys.
In addition to youth-focused work, Afrikindness actively supports parents, schools, and communities. Our Neurodiversity Community Programme raises awareness and improves understanding of neurodiversity, particularly within underrepresented communities. Our Parent Training initiatives equip families with practical strategies around communication, safeguarding, emotional wellbeing, and parenting support. Through our Community Empowerment Programme, we collaborate with faith groups, community leaders, schools, and local organisations to strengthen safeguarding awareness, promote inclusion, and encourage collective responsibility for children and young people.
