Alpine Shire Youth is deeply committed to empowering young people of the Alpine Shire region through three key funding streams.
Within the Engage! initiative, the organisation actively encourages youth engagement in decision-making processes, facilitates skill development through training, mentoring, and volunteer opportunities, and acknowledges the valuable contributions made by young people to the community.
FReeZA is a shining example of youth participation, where young people take the lead, and are supported in planning, developing, and executing music, cultural, and recreational events. These events are free from drugs, alcohol, vaping and smoking, ensuring they cater to the diverse interests and needs of local young people. FReeZA supports local talent and provides emerging artists with valuable opportunities to showcase their skills.
Alpine Shire Youth is also a partner in the YACVic FutureProof project, which is supported by the Australian Government's Black Summer Bushfire Recovery grant. This program has a focus on youth-led disaster risk reduction efforts in Eastern Victoria, with a particular emphasis on aiding fire-affected young people and communities.
FutureProof applies youth-centric principles to engage, support, train, and connect young individuals, actively involving them in youth-led projects and community decision-making. Additionally, it offers qualification pathways for 150 local young people, creating avenues for careers in emergency management and community services.
Alpine Shire Youth is dedicated to fostering the potential of young individuals and creating a positive influence on both their lives and the wider community.
